Bare Canvas

Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: 9 October 2026

This page exists so that you never have to guess where the money comes from.

The short version

Bare Canvas is free to read and carries no advertising. It is paid for by commission. Several links in the course go to the World of Warships website, tagged so that the affiliate network operating them can see the visit came from us. If you follow one and then create and activate an account there, Mimo-mind s.r.o. is paid a commission by that network.

You pay nothing extra. Your price, terms and account are exactly what they would have been had you typed the address yourself.

What we are actually paid for

The arrangement pays on a sign-up, not on a sale: in the network's own words, the commission covers a single opt-in, downloading the client, creating an account and activating it. We are told nothing about you in return. What arrives is a count and an amount in a monthly report, used only to check we have been paid what we are owed.

Where the paid links appear

There are five places in the course, and no others:

  • Step 1, in a box explaining what we can and cannot tell you about the product.
  • Step 2, where we point you at the vendor for its own platform requirements.
  • Step 3, where we point you at the vendor's own terms rather than paraphrasing them.
  • Step 4, where installation details belong to whoever publishes the software.
  • Step 5, in a closing note.

The same address also appears once in our privacy policy, where we name the destination the policy is distinguishing itself from. Every link to it carries a line beside it saying it is paid, and none is disguised as a recommendation or a verdict, because this course gives none of those. The links go straight to the destination: no redirect of our own, no short link, no click tracker, no script rewriting where a link points. Hover over one and your browser's status bar shows exactly where it goes.

What decides what the course says

Not the commission. The five steps were sequenced from the order in which questions arrive for a beginner, and that structure was fixed before a single link was placed. The links went into the places where a reader would already have needed the vendor's own site.

What does decide it: whether a statement can be sourced to the body that published it, and whether a step is useful to someone who never follows a paid link. Where we cannot source something about the product, we say the vendor has not stated it rather than inventing a plausible sentence.

What this disclosure does not mean

It does not mean the product is recommended. This course recommends, scores and compares nothing. It explains a category.

We have no relationship with the brand beyond the commission. All brand names on Bare Canvas, World of Warships among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Bare Canvas, and none has endorsed or sponsored it. We are not an official site, an authorised source, a reseller or a partner, and we cannot help with anyone's game account.

And it does not mean you need to follow a link: every checklist can be completed without doing so.

Things we do not do

  • No sponsored content presented as editorial, and no paid placement of any product in the steps.
  • No invented statistics, test results, benchmarks, awards or badges anywhere on this site.
  • No testimonials or personal accounts. The household in the worked examples is openly hypothetical.
  • No countdowns, scarcity claims or urgency of any kind. Nothing here expires.
  • No tracking of readers: no cookies, no analytics, no pixels, as set out in our cookie policy.
  • No different content for different visitors. Everyone sees the same pages regardless of where they arrived from.

Restrictions on the arrangement, stated

The affiliate programme behind these links covers desktop computers running Windows or macOS. It does not cover Linux, phones or tablets. We say so in the course itself rather than only here, because a reader on a Linux machine deserves to know at Step 2 and not at Step 4.

Australian consumer law

Misleading or deceptive conduct in trade or commerce is prohibited under the Australian Consumer Law, and the obligation falls on the publisher, not on the reader. Information about that law is published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission at https://www.accc.gov.au.

Our editorial method

How the course was structured, what each step is sourced to and how often it is reviewed are set out on the About page, under Editorial method.
